Electrified cracker technologies have the potential to significantly reduce #CO2 emissions from one of the central processes of industry. The dual-path approach of this partnership with Shell aims to support the significant emission reductions required to meet our 2030 carbon targets and to achieve #CarbonNeutral by 2050 or sooner, in line with the #ParisAgreement. This work is further accelerated with the addition of new partners, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research and the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology.

Heather Spinney, Ph.D, Core R&D senior research scientist at Dow, has been named the 2021 Rising Star by the American Chemical Society ACS Women Chemists Committee. Dr. Spinney was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field of homogeneous catalysis at Dow (including: hydroformylation, alkoxylation, methanol homologation, ethylene polymerization) while demonstrating a high level of professionalism and leadership. The award also recognizes Dr. Spinney’s dedication to others, including tutoring children with learning disabilities and extensive volunteerism within the Midland, Michigan area. The ACS Women Chemists Committee (WCC) Rising Star Awards recognize exceptional early- to mid-career women chemists across all areas of chemistry on a national level. #WomenInScience
