Until there's a vaccine to treat COVID19, the fate of some of our most popular sports hangs in the balance. Some are forging ahead and trying to come up with a way to safely bring fans back into stadiums while maintaining social distancing guidelines. We wanted to know what they might look like if they did.
What COVID-19 has made dangerously evident is that many healthcare facilities are not designed to handle global pandemics – both in terms of straight out capacity, but also in terms of flexibility in design.
We reached out to our Director of Lighting Design, Angela Matchica, to discuss her experiences as an engineer as well as her role in some of our most visible projects.
The New York Mets are set to open their newly renovated training facility, Clover Park, in Port St. Lucie, Florida for their first pre-season game on February 22nd. Fan amenities includes wider concourses, new restrooms, concessions and improved wayfinding. “Working with the Mets organization and the leadership of St. Lucie County we were able to improve the player performance spaces and give the fans the experience possible,” said EwingCole president Robert McConnell, AIA. “There are now plenty of memorable enhancements at the ballpark that will delight and amaze visitors. All in all, the result is a game-changer for the Mets and their affiliates, for St. Lucie County and for baseball fans on the Treasure Coast.”
