Congratulations to three of our Eagle Award winners! 🏆 🦅 Our St. Cloud, MN facility won 2023 Plant of the Year (out of 10 plants). Travis Mewton won Salesperson of the Year and the Margin Management Award, and Matthew Wilkins won the Peak New Business Award (out of 10 AEs). The Plant of the Year Award requires a plant to perform well in all significant business areas, including safety, quality, delivery, inventory, sustainability, continuous improvement, controllable costs, and EBITDA. Travis is an Account Executive for the commercial vehicle market, and Matt is an AE for our automotive business. The annual Eagle Awards are Grede’s internal award program to recognize our plant operations and sales leaders for achieving results. Eagles represent power and freedom. Last week, we held our first-ever Grede Grad Learning Summit at Grede Headquarters in Southfield, Michigan. During the summit, our five Grede Grads attended sessions about Grede’s history, operational excellence, automation, product engineering, the Grede Sand Standard (GSS), program management, and iron metallurgy. They ended the day with lunch with our executive leadership team. At Grede, our full-service engineering capabilities include #lightweighting, initial design concepts, design optimization, material optimization, advanced #manufacturing techniques, #design for manufacturing, and even casting 101 classes.
Our skilled trades team members are vital in keeping our equipment running to enable operational execution and outstanding delivery performance. We’ve launched a new training program and skill-based wage structure for maintenance technicians and electricians to expand their proficiency and provide opportunities to increase earnings. Together, the programs enable our skilled trade workers to increase their wages based on increasing their skills. The new training structure has six levels and is hosted in Casting College, Grede’s eLearning platform. It’ll help increase the competencies and engagement of our maintenance employees, reduce turnover, standardize processes, and improve uptime.
