In April 2024, Harris Cares volunteered at the Matthew House - Chicago soup kitchen performing several tasks including serving guests a hot meal and making “to-go” bags of sandwiches and snacks. Special shout out to our compassionate employees. For more than 30 years, Matthew House on Chicago’s South Side has provided food, daytime shelter, permanent supportive housing, and other services to men, women, families, and children who are experiencing or at risk of becoming homeless.
The National MS Society's vision is: A World Free of MS.🧡👟 On Sunday, April 28th, Harris Cares volunteers showed up for the National Multiple Sclerosis Walk. The team served food in the “Top Fundraisers Tent”, gave directions, and passed out MS Circles of Support for the opening ceremony.
In June 2024, Harris Cares volunteers dedicated time to the Pacific Garden Mission. Together, we made 500 sandwiches, arranged breakfast for the following morning, served the midday meal, and assisted with the cleanup. Pacific Garden Mission is proud to be the nation’s oldest rescue mission working to change lives through God’s transformative love. The Mission began in 1877 when Colonel George and Sarah Dunn Clarke opened a ministry in a tiny storefront on South Clark Street. hashtag#givingbacktothecommunity hashtag#volunteerism

A few Harris Cares volunteers had a fulfilling day working with the Daughters of St Mary Providence at the soup kitchen. Our team was able to perform meal prep activities, execute a meal plan, and pack bagged lunches for more than 70 people in need. No one was left hungry, including our team who shared a special meal with the devoted members of the institution. In Chicago, the sisters are known for their work among developmentally disabled adults; they opened the soup kitchen in 1986.

During the holiday season, Harris & Harris was proud to partner with the Boys & Girl's Club in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. With the help of Senior Leaders and their departments, we were able to provide presents for fifteen children during this holiday season From bicycles and baby dolls, to action figures and drawing set, we were able to fulfil everything on the children's wish lists, and they were thrilled! It felt good to be Santa's helpers this year.
