The 2024 Indiana State Legislative Session wrapped up mid-March. While it's true that the majority of the legislation that we advocated for was cut, our kids made an impact on many of our Legislators. From now until January 2025 we ask that the Indiana General Assembly remember us, we will be looking forward to seeing you at the #IndianaStatehouse in 2025! #InThisTogether #IndianaGeneralAssembly #attendantcare #HomeHealthCare #MedicallyComplexKids #MedicallyComplexWarriors #DontForgetAboutMe #teamHPHC
Happy Nurses Week 2023! Nurses Week 2023 begins May 6 and continues through May 12, 2023. This particular week of recognition gives us an excellent opportunity to recognize the contributions of Benchmark and HomePointe HealthCare (HomePointe) nurses. Since 1994, the American Nurses Association has designated this week to honor nurses. Each year they choose a theme, and this year’s theme is You Make a Difference, to signify nurses varying roles in healthcare and the positive impact nurses have on people’s lives. Please know we see and hear Benchmark and HomePointe nurses making a difference every day. For these reasons and so many more, on behalf of your team at Benchmark and HomePointe, we wish you a Happy Nurses Week! We celebrate you and are very grateful for your special role in this organization.
Parents Become Paid Caregivers with HomePointe HealthCare’s Attendant Care HomePointe HealthCare offers nursing for kids who have complex healthcare needs, providing tailor-made, hospital-level care in the comforts of their own home. The homecare model translates into nurses spending their shift with one client, rather than multiple, as they would in hospital or facility-based care. This method of care helps their nurses identify potential issues early on, preventing hospitalizations. The agency now employs over 100 RNs and LPNs and 25 personal care attendants. The relatively small agency provides services in 10 counties in Northeast Indiana and 7 Northwest Indiana counties. In 2020, Indiana recognized the difficulty of providing healthcare because of the nursing crisis caused by the pandemic. This paved the way for our new program, Attendant Care, which allows for parents to become paid caregivers to their own children. Alexa Davis, Attendant Care parent: “I’m doing what I normally do every day, but with a paycheck! It helps alleviate the financial pressure in our household."
