On Friday, February 10th, the first-ever Immanuel Culinary Cup took place at the Sysco Commercial Kitchen in Lincoln, NE. 14 Immanuel chefs from across all of our markets were paired up in teams of two and tasked with creating a crab cake appetizer and reserve-level entrée of their choosing. Over the course of the day, the chefs cooked different variations of the crab cake appetizer, as well as shrimp, steak, pastrami-wrapped salmon, chicken parmesan, gnocchi, and even crème Brule. Each team’s plate was served before our panel of judges, including Alan J, Eric Gurley, Emily Watts, Metro Community College’s Culinary Outreach Specialist Peter Walsh, Region Manager of HCIS-MBS Jeff Heedum, and resident judge from Arboretum Village Christina Ludewig. After tabulating our judging scores, Kaz Yezdi and Bryan Hunter were recognized as the top chefs. They each received Immanuel Culinary Cup trophies that they proudly took back to Deerfield and Newport House!
