As we say farewell to 2022 and hello to 2023, we look forward to all that is to come. As two of the nation's leaders in providing better healthcare outcomes for lower costs, combining SCL Health and Intermountain Healthcare's operational and clinical programs together in April 2022 has only strengthened this focus. Our future is bright, and we're honored to serve patients and communities across Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Kansas. Wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
Health systems with a strong culture of diversity, equity and inclusion can better serve patients and their workforce, and it takes a talented leader to successfully drive those efforts. Congratulations to our very own Tiffany Capeles, Chief Equity Officer at Intermountain Healthcare, who has been recognized by Becker's Healthcare as 1 of 40 diversity and inclusion leaders from hospitals and health systems across the nation who have led successful transformations and continue to drive positive change within their organizations.
We're happy to see several small cities within our footprint on Wallethub's Top 30 small cities with the highest growth list! Wallethub evaluated cities using two core dimensions: sociodemographics (50 points) and jobs and economy (50 points). These dimensions were assessed using 17 metrics, including population growth, growth in share of college-educated population, median household income growth, unemployment rate decrease, increase in number of businesses and median house price growth. The study defines a small city as one with fewer than 100,000 people. #12 - Saint George, UT #19 - Longmont, CO #21 - Orem, UT #23 - Loveland, CO #28 - Layton, UT
For the 15th time, SelectHealth has been named one of the state’s “Best Companies to Work For” by Utah Business Magazine! This award was determined by a survey done by our very own SelectHealth caregivers. Our caregivers are what make SelectHealth one of the BEST and this achievement would not have been possible without each of them. Thank you!
From all of us at Intermountain Healthcare, we wish you and your loved ones the gifts of peace, hope, joy and health this holiday season!
You may think of genetic conditions as uncommon. Even well-known conditions such as muscular dystrophy or hemophilia affect relatively few people. While individual genetic conditions such as these are rare, genetic conditions affect approximately one out of every 20 individuals. As a result, more than 900,000 individuals within Intermountain’s service area have a genetic condition or underlying genetic risk to develop a significant health condition.
A southern Utah mom hoped to spend her day celebrating her teenage son’s birthday, but an InstaCare physician assistant believed her headache and vomiting indicated something serious and advised her to postpone her plans and go to the emergency department for a scan. By evening she was receiving surgery to remove a mass from her brain.
