Voting for the categories is open to the general public online. In addition to being named the GOLD winner for the “Women’s Clinic” category, we also received honors in the following categories: SILVER in “Senior Focused Healthcare,” SILVER in “Urgent Care/Walk In Clinic,” and BRONZE in “Men’s Health.” “As a not-for-profit health system, Intermountain Health is committed to ensuring patients have access to high-quality care and health resources they may need,” said Mitchell Cloward, president of Intermountain Health’s Desert Region, which includes Nevada. “The Best of Las Vegas Awards are significant indicators of public sentiment because they are selected by the voices of the populations that we serve. Roughly 30% of the patients at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton, CO are on Medicaid or are medically indigent patients, meaning they don’t have insurance and don’t qualify for Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance. Since these patient populations are so large, Platte Valley recently launched two initiatives to address length of stay and readmission rates among this population. Congratulations to our President and CEO, Rob Allen, on being recognized at number 31 on Modern Healthcare’s “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare 2023 List!” In honoring Rob, Modern Healthcare highlighted how under his leadership, Intermountain has broadened to serve across a seven-state region, has opened Select Health to Colorado residents, partnering with UCHealth and AdventHealth, and “has spearheaded Intermountain’s strategy for making care more accessible and affordable by building out ambulatory surgery centers–31 already operational or in development–and outpatient imaging centers.” Another accomplishment noted by Modern Healthcare is Intermountain’s leadership in the digital health sector, including Graphite Health, a software company for frictionless exchange of health data, and artificial intelligence platforms. While the “Most Influential People in Healthcare” award honors Rob for his leadership and impact, Rob is quick to share the recognition with caregivers across Intermountain. “This is truly a recognition of the great work each of our caregivers does,” said Rob, “to deliver great experiences everyday while looking to the future needs of our communities and our caregivers — and finding ways every day to simplify and improve. Thanks to each of you for contributing to this recognition for Intermountain Health.”
Nikki Timms knows the importance of self-care, not just as an Intermountain Health provider, but also as a patient. She was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and made sure she prioritized herself to avoid burnout. Nikki realized if she wasn't good to herself, she couldn't be good to her patients. Since then, Nikki has made it her mission to fight for her health and for others in need of support to promote resiliency.

There are many barriers to seeking healthcare in rural areas, including access, transportation, workforce shortages, stigma, and more. Because of this, Intermountain Health is committed to finding new ways to provide excellent healthcare to the rural communities we serve and meet the needs of every patient. Dr. Steven Griffin is Intermountain Health’s only full-time pediatric provider in Eastern Montana. He works at Holy Rosary Clinic in Miles City and sees roughly 15-20 patients per day. Dr. Griffin attends deliveries, treats babies in the nursery, takes care of sick kids in the clinic, assists with pediatric consultations in the Emergency Department, and admits sick children to the hospital if they require a higher level of care. By doing this, children in Eastern Montana don’t have to travel long distances to receive quality care. “I was looking for a role where I was able to fully meet the needs of children of all ages,” said Dr. Griffin. “Holy Rosary was the perfect opportunity for me because I didn’t want the typical 8-5 pediatric office. I enjoy going into the hospital and doing everything from neonatal resuscitations to college physicals when patients are ready to enter the adult world. This style of practice is fizzing out everywhere except for in rural areas, so this was a perfect fit.”
Ryan Seacrest and his family were on hand Tuesday to celebrate the opening of a new state-of-the-art broadcast studio for patients at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital. Top Gun Maverick star Miles Teller, singer, songwriter Andy Grammer, and actor, director & producer Zachary Levi were also on hand to celebrate the opening of the new studio with patients and their families. Seacrest Studios are charitable endeavors of the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, which was started by the radio and television star, along with his family. The goal of the foundation is to contribute positively to the healing process for children and their families while in the hospital. “We are thrilled to welcome Primary Children’s Hospital to the RSF family as we open the 14th Seacrest Studio at children’s hospitals nationwide, and the third one this year,” said Ryan Seacrest, chairman and founder, Ryan Seacrest Foundation. “It’s incredibly rewarding to know that more kids will have access to the wonders of media during their stay and I look forward to seeing how they use these new skills in the years to come.”
New moms with questions or concerns about breastfeeding are now able to see an international board-certified lactation consultant over telehealth, thanks to a new program launched by Intermountain Health in Utah and Idaho on November 1. The program offers video visits through Intermountain’s well-known telehealth platform, Connect Care, and is offered as an option in addition to in-person lactation consultations available in Intermountain clinics after new moms go home from the hospital. “It’s common to have challenges with breastfeeding. There can be a learning curve for first time moms, and even for moms who’ve breastfed before. Every baby’s anatomy is unique and their coordination and learning to latch on can vary,” said Maurine Cobabe, MD associate medical director for telehealth services at Intermountain, who leads the new program. Intermountain plans to launch similar telehealth lactation services in Colorado and Montana in January 2024.
