Here's a fun fact: The 107-year-old Georgia Street Bridge in San Diego is part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon course ... and is one of Kleinfelder's iconic bridge retrofit projects! This Sunday, October 24, participants will run or walk over this bridge between miles 9 and 10. Kleinfelder Senior Bridge Engineer Kelly Burnell gives us an inside look at our work on this historically significant project ... see for yourself!
Imagine a Day Without Water is a national education campaign that brings together diverse stakeholders to highlight how water is essential, invaluable, and in need of investment. Taking place October 21, 2021, it's focused on learning more about where our water comes from and where our water goes, and the impact drinking water and wastewater providers have within our communities. We had some of our Kleinfelder kids draw what a day without water might look like, then had our water engineers respond. Take a look!
“As a geotechnical engineer, I can simply confirm that Kleinfelder ROCKS,” says Stephane Dalo from our Fresno, CA office, who recently wrapped up a two-week-long geotechnical field investigation for the embankment and foundation designs of a new overcrossing in Northern California. “My favorite part about working at Kleinfelder is the knowledge that I get from working on different projects throughout California, thereby familiarizing myself with subsurface/geologic conditions and geotechnical design approaches pertaining to various geographies.” Interested in a geotechnical engineering career? We're hiring for this role across all divisions ... apply today!
This past summer, Kleinfelder staff across the U.S., Canada, and Australia participated in Safe + Sound Week, and we're proud to share the significant amount of money raised for our three designated charities – Camp Quality, Food Banks Alberta, and Kids' Chance of America – through our employees’ engagement in proactive safety plus personal donations that were matched by Kleinfelder. Thank you to all who participated, and way to go!
“Kleinfelder really values the technical and career growth of our younger professionals, who represent the next generation of the water works profession," said Kleinfelder Senior Project Manager Kirsten Ryan, PG, LEED AP. "This award reflects an investment in those values, which makes our project teams, our firm, and our industry stronger. I am proud to accept it on behalf of our company.” Kirsten accepted the 2021 New England Water Works Association (NEWWA) Young Professional Employer Support Award during their 140th Annual Conference held earlier this month.
