Learning is important at Landmark Hospitals. In addition to a generous tuition and certification reimbursement program for full-time employees, we also offer extensive leadership training. In 2024, over 30 hours of group training and over 200 online courses were provided to managers and leaders, covering topics such as “Safety in the Workplace,” “Leadership Skills”, “Communication”, and several courses presented by ADP such as “Interviewing Skills,” and “Respect in the Workplace.” The Senior Leadership team ended 2024 with a “12 Days of Leadership” exercise, where a different leadership topic was presented each day. Each subject had an associated small token ‘gift’ that coincided with the topic, such as a magnifying glass (Day 1 - Vision and Strategy) and the book Crucial Conversations (Day 4 – Communication). The favorite item by far was Day 5 – Decision Making, which was accompanied by a Magic 8 Ball! This was a fun and creative way to end the year while incorporating planning for 2025.

Patient Safety is always the highest priority at Landmark Hospitals. Our Cape Girardeau location created a “room of errors” contest as a fun, yet informative, method of highlighting patient safety during Patient Safety Awareness Week (3/10/24). We know that investing time and training in patient safety positively impacts health outcomes and overall quality of patient care.

What are our employees saying about Landmark Hospitals? In the 2023 Employee Engagement Survey that was completed in March, employees were positive (94% liked where they worked and who they worked with!), with increased participation and an increase in positive ratings for areas such as pay, benefits and recognition. Our employees know they make a difference when they are at work – in both the patients’ lives and their coworkers. Perhaps the most satisfying aspect of the engagement results was hearing the positive comments directly from the employee voices. When asked what words describe Landmark Hospitals, "Caring", "Compassionate", "Teamwork" and "Family" were the most common responses. When employees are respected, valued and work well together, it shows! Landmark’s environment and “Culture of Caring” resonates throughout our hospitals and continues to make our workplace one of the best for both patients and healthcare workers.

One of our Cape Girardeau nurses, Joan Foust, was profiled this week for Hospital Week 2023. We are proud and honored to have Joan on the Landmark Hospital’s team for the last 8 years. She exemplifies the dedication and care of all our clinicians. Hospital Week started out in 1921 as an “Appreciation Day” to promote confidence and education in hospitals following the Spanish flu of 1918. Here we are more than 100 years later, and with another pandemic hopefully at its end, we truly need MORE than a week to show our gratitude for all the care provided by our teams. All of us at Landmark Hospitals deeply appreciate the work that our clinicians and staff do to drive positive patient outcomes. The work they do each and every day makes a difference in the communities where they live: one patient, one family at a time. Hospital week may be over for 2023, but our appreciation for the amazing employees at Landmark Hospital lasts year-round! See more at https://www.semissourian.com/story/2995652.html

Hospital Week 2023 - #WeAreHealthcare Hospital Week is a special week where we express our gratitude for hospital workers across the US. At Landmark Hospitals, our caregivers have taken on unimaginable challenges with the most medically complex cases and leverage their care and skills to improve patient lives. During hospital week, we celebrate the dedication and commitment of both our front line healthcare team, and also our support staff that works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the facility is clean, supplies are available, regulations are complied with, and HR needs met. Each hospital has a week of fun activities to highlight and recognize how important hospitals and healthcare workers are throughout the community
