As demand for construction continues to grow, the need for strong, visible pathways into the industry is more important than ever. Fifty McCarthy employees recently joined approximately 700 professionals at Engineering News-Record's 2026 Groundbreaking Women in Construction Conference in San Diego. Throughout the event, attendees gained valuable insights on leadership, career growth and the collective role we all play in building a stronger, more inclusive industry. One message in particular stood out: women in construction are not the exception, they're essential. Thank you to everyone at McCarthy who attended and contributed to the meaningful conversations that are helping shape the future of our industry.
Future builders in the house! 🏗️ We welcomed students from the St. Louis Internship Program (SLIP) to our office for a hands-on look at careers in construction — from safety and VDC to field operations and the trades. Through their collaboration with St. Louis Community College and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis, SLIP is supporting the development of a skilled workforce pipeline for the St. Louis region, and we're all in on helping build what's next. 💛
Big milestone for workforce development in Arizona 👏 We recently celebrated the grand opening of West-MEC Northeast Campus' advanced manufacturing cleanroom, a space designed to prepare students for manufacturing training that directly parallels today's industry settings. This cleanroom gives students hands-on experience in a real-world, controlled environment similar to those used in semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing 🏭⚙️ Designed by Grace Design Studios in collaboration with industry partners like TSMC and Amkor Technology, Inc. 🤝 the new facility supports West-MEC's ability to meet growing demand and create a direct pipeline of local, job-ready talent.
We recently celebrated our graduating class of 19 apprentices across eight solar projects nationwide, who have committed to continuing their education, professional development and skill building. 👏 Through McCarthy's Registered Apprenticeship Program, these professionals have expanded their careers by participating in a combination of online instruction and on-the-job learning, further enhanced by mentoring in the field. Congratulations to all of our graduates!
Big day in Baytown! 🎉 Baytown Waterworks Partners (a joint venture between McCarthy Building Companies and Carollo Engineers) is proud to join Baytown Area Water Authority and BGE, Inc. to break ground on Phase II of the East Surface Water Treatment Plant — a progressive design-build expansion that will double capacity of the current plant in the City of Baytown, TX. Together, we’re carefully expanding an active plant so Baytown can continue to attract new businesses, support growth and deliver reliable, high-quality water for the community. Huge thanks to Mayor Charles Johnson, Baytown City Council, BAWA board, Texas Water Development Board and everyone who came together to celebrate this milestone. We look forward to seeing this plant fully online and serving Baytown at its new capacity in Summer 2028!

Across our communities, we're focused on building up our local workforce just as much as we're focused on building projects. Why? ➡️ Fewer skilled workers are joining construction than those retiring or leaving the trades. Whether we encourage family members to join the industry, or we spark a new passion among local high school students, our employees are taking every opportunity to introduce young professionals to a lucrative, stable career. Senior Vice President of Operations, Eric Fields, shares how some of our employees are providing mentorship and structured training to the next generation of McCarthy builders. 🤝🦺 Read more 🔗
