We have the final tallies from our $500K food bank donation effort! Thanks to our team members, we were able to donate roughly 2.3 million meals to 53 local organizations that help those in need. 🍲💗 We’re so grateful for the opportunity to support the great work that organizations like Sistering, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHMETROLINA), Food Bank of Central New York and Oregon Food Bank are doing in our communities. For those of you who aren't familiar with this story, traditionally POWER holds winter parties commemorating the time our first office burned down and we started anew with the help of our communities. Because we couldn't gather together this year, we decided to make it possible for others to come together over a good meal, and to give back to the communities that support us. Sub-grids that can be isolated from the bulk electric system are a promising tool for recovery of power assets after a catastrophe. But these systems can’t be implemented on-demand in an emergency situation. Careful planning and modeling, as well as concerted system investment is required to prepare those assets to perform that role. POWER’s Vice President of Field Services, John Kumm, illustrates some of the key planning and investment activities to consider in this article at T&D World. The good news? These investments pay off in the everyday operation of the grid, not just in catastrophic situations. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMEEq
