This noninvasive medical imaging machine is used to produce incredibly detailed images of scanned patients. This includes muscles, blood vessels, bones and organs. The addition of the breast coil takes the enhance imaging to a higher level for women who have dense breast tissue or breast implants.
ProMedica Cancer Institute Healing Care Coordinator Debra Reis, MSN, and the Healing Care team received the Rene-Maurice Gattefossé Prize. This award recognizes the team's commitment to and clinical research in the use of aromatherapy as a complementary therapeutic approach with patients at the ProMedica Cancer Institute. The Gattefossé Foundation awards this prize once a year to an organization that is promoting clinical aromatherapy. This is the first time the award has been presented to a program in the United States. The Healing Care Program offers free integrative therapies primarily to patients with cancer and their supporters or family members, helping them cope with a cancer diagnosis and the side effects of treatment. Aromatherapy is used to relieve stress, anxiety, nausea, constipation or diarrhea, lack of energy, sleep disorders, discomfort and cravings. In 2022, the Healing Care team reached more than 1,500 patients.
