In order for safety to be a true part of workplace culture, it has to be a consistent commitment each and every day. It must be deeply ingrained into processes and habits across the company. When it comes to safety and consistency at ScottsMiracle-Gro, one team has achieved a Cal Ripken-like streak that will be hard to duplicate. (Though our teams will certainly try.) Our Lawrenceville, Virginia site recently celebrated a 30 year lost time accident (LTA) free milestone. Everyone at Lawrenceville has contributed to this incredible feat not only for our industry, but all industries. To celebrate the achievement, key leaders met with and congratulated associates. There were steaks, a festive spread of food and, of course, cake for dessert. The whole team mingled and reminisced about the outstanding 30 year journey of creating an exceptional safety culture.

Sometimes the simple act of letting someone know you appreciate them can make their whole day. Here at Scotts MiracleGro we have a special place on our intranet called "The Vine" to give shout outs to anyone in our organization! We love to shout out associates every day and especially on #EmployeeAppreciationDay!
When ScottsMiracle-Gro truck drivers Dusty and Josh talk on a daily basis, their conversations are filled with jokes, regularly busting each other’s chops like longtime friends do. Last December, when Josh answered Dusty’s call, something was different. Josh started with a joke, but Dusty stopped him quickly and with emphasis. “I didn’t know if I would be able to explain what was happening more than once,” Dusty recalled. Dusty didn’t know it at the time, but he was having a stroke. Click the link to read the full story! Josh’s actions on that December day are truly inspirational. He was there for his co-worker and friend. It’s an example of the way our associates are there for each other. If we take a step back, there are lessons to be learned from Josh and Dusty from a work and life perspective. – Look out for each other, because life can come at you fast and unexpectedly – Respect others – especially truck drivers – on the road – Keep things in perspective and remember what’s truly important in life
From all of us to all of you, have a safe and happy holiday season!
