At Sequoia Living, we believe in fostering a workplace culture that values connection, growth, and impact. On Wednesday, November 13th, we gathered for an all-hands meeting at our Home Office—a moment to reflect on 2024 and celebrate the incredible work of our team members across all of Sequoia Living. This gathering was more than just a meeting; it was an opportunity to: Connect: Build new relationships and strengthen bonds with colleagues we’ve worked alongside for years. Reflect: Discuss the state of the Home Office, share updates on our 2025 goals, and explore ways to collaborate more effectively with our field teams. Celebrate: Highlight our achievements, including this year’s Culture Values Assessment, which shows our commitment to continuous improvement and making a meaningful impact. A standout moment from our time together was when everyone shared a "Bright Spot"—a story of success or positivity—and expressed gratitude. These contributions lit up the room and reminded us of the collective energy that drives us forward.

Sequoia Turns 67! In 1957, the formation of Sequoia Living (formerly Northern California Presbyterian Homes, Inc., NCPH) was approved by the Presbytery of San Francisco on October 3. However, the nonprofit was officially an entity in January 1958 with a mission to provide homes and services for healthy and joyful aging. Fun Facts: The Sequoias Portola Valley was the first retirement community built by NCPH. The newly elected Board of Directors, the governing body of this nonprofit, selected a site featuring 42 acres of rolling forest and meadows, just seven miles from Palo Alto. The next property was The Sequoias San Francisco, followed by The Tamalpais Marin, and in 2020, Viamonte at Walnut Creek! But that's not all— much has happened between 1957 to today! In 1967, Community Services (formerly Services for Seniors.) was established. In the 1970s, apartments for low-income older adults were created.
