K-12 students will now have the opportunity to earn cash prizes for their schools in Trex Company's Plastic Film Recycling Challenge, thanks to Charter Next Generation. The sponsorship is intended to incentivize participating schools, which aligns with our goal of educating and inspiring students to recycle. Charter Next Generation, one of the largest plastic film producers in the U.S., will offer $5,000 to the first place elementary, middle, and high school that recycles the most plastic film (by weight). An additional second place award of $2,500 will be awarded to the second place school across each category. In addition to the cash prizes, winning schools will also receive a prize made out of Trex materials. This partnership is possible because of NW Works’ group-supported employment program, which offers adults with disabilities hands-on work experience in a supervised, small-group setting. As a result, Trex has filled 14 positions with NW Works clients at our Railing Warehouse in Winchester. These employees play a vital role in assembling hardware kits and boxes for Trex railing products. By forming relationships with our partners, Trex can fill our facilities with hardworking and dedicated employees.
