Teaching at Uncommon Schools - Our Stories
We're always excited to see our alumni return to our classrooms. Kim, Kristie, and Viannis -- Uncommon Schools North Star Academy alumni and current rising seniors in college -- are returning to Newark this summer as Uncommon Summer Teaching Fellows. They're part of a cohort of 135 college students who attended a training at Rutgers this week. At the end of the program, Fellows will return to their senior year of college with a possible offer to teach with us full time after completing their degrees.

“This creates the opportunity for them to pursue their passions… we know that a significant portion of our students have interest in going into teaching.” –Morehouse College President David Thomas. We are proud to celebrate this moment with Morehouse College! This weekend 400 Morehouse graduates received news that their student loans will be paid in full by philanthropist Robert F. Smith. This gift will enable these graduates to pursue their dreams without the burden of debt. As our partner, we are so thrilled for the Class of 2019 and the opportunity this presents to give back to their communities. Congratulations Morehouse Class of 2019!
