The Visiting Nurse Service of New York has kicked off its annual Strength from Within Employee Giving Campaign for 2017! Every year, in addition to all of the amazing work they do on behalf of our patients, many of our staff step up and make donations in support of their favorite VNSNY charitable and community benefit programs, which improve the lives of thousands of vulnerable New Yorkers. 2016 was a record breaking year both in terms of total dollars raised and number of employees participating, and we are off to an even better start this year! Our goal is to raise $60,000 to strengthen our charitable mission and to increase the number of employees making gifts. Thanks to the outpouring of generosity thus far, we have reached the $10,000 mark!

Look Who’s New at VNSNY! Justin Bain, IT Security Policy Director, IT Service Delivery Several years ago, I attended a conference at which a presenter discussed VNSNY’s cutting-edge technology in providing home health care services to its patients; which is what attracted me to VNSNY. I’ve worked in post-acute care for most of my career, including home health, personal care, and hospice provider settings. My experience in developing and implementing IT security policies and procedures within healthcare organizations will assist with VNSNY’s efforts to upgrade its current systems to modern, cloud-based computing. What better time to become involved in a project than at the beginning! Together, we can shape VNSNY’s policies, processes and systems so they provide the greatest protection to patient information while allowing ease of use by our caregivers and other staff. I look forward to filling this role and to advancing VNSNY’s cutting-edge technology within the healthcare arena.

Stories of Care - Every Encounter is a Story | Home Care Services | Visiting Nurse Service of New York
Look Who’s New at VNSNY! Giselle Laigo, Education Manager, RN Education Department I am proud to have joined one of the oldest not-for-profit home health care agencies in the country and to be a part of Lillian Wald’s legacy of providing quality care to New Yorkers at home and in the community. For the past seven years, I have worked in home health care both as a staff CHHA nurse and as a field supervisor. This experience helped me to understand that patients’ needs do not stop at the hospital bedside, the need continues after discharge in the home setting. As a nurse and a humanitarian at heart, I am compelled to act in any situation to help my patients. This includes taking action to help manage illness or a condition that impacts living a healthy life. I am fortunate to be part of an organization with deep roots in the community and one which provides such a wide scope of services. And I am blessed to have colleagues who are supportive, professional and knowledgeable. They have made me feel welcomed and right at “home.”

Look Who’s New at VNSNY! Tiffany Johnson, Grievance & Appeals Specialist VNSNY CHOICE My decision to join VNSNY CHOICE grew from a desire to further my career in healthcare and acquire additional knowledge about the grievance and appeals process in a Managed Care setting. VNSNY CHOICE coordinates care for members through its wide array of Medicare and Medicaid health plans. I knew my years of experience working with members and groups for a large health plan, coupled with my Healthcare Management education, would allow me to “hit the ground running” in this role. I am excited to be a part of VNSNY because of its long-standing history in New York and its service to the community, and I look forward to making a positive contribution to my team and the organization.
