As we embark on the journey into the new year, now is the ideal moment to lay the foundation for financial prosperity, not only for the year ahead but the future you hold. Westpac Wealth Partners provides clients with a comprehensive approach. The first step in our financial planning process revolves around understanding your goals—considering both short-term and long-term plans. Goals differ and can range from acquiring a new car, deciding on stock options, exiting your business, or planning for retirement. Each client is unique, and we invest time in comprehending your specific goals, family structure, and business dynamics. Through fact-finding discussions, we gain a deep understanding of where you currently stand and where you aspire to be. This involves a thorough examination of assets, liabilities, and cash flow on a balance sheet. We delve into protection strategies, estate planning strategies, and tax diversification. The coordination of these elements forms a cohesive plan throughout the process. Working together, we provide clients with education, guidance, and a roadmap for financial coordination. Our focus is on striking a balance between enjoying today's lifestyle and protecting tomorrow's financial future. Client relationships are built for the long term. It's not a sprint but a marathon. We collaborate with clients over an extended period, defining and refining their blueprint as we understand their goals and map out the journey to achieve them.

Business owners are used to having control. But some things are uncontrollable, and without a plan, those uncontrollable things can create negative consequences that reverberate. Consider the story of a fictional but representative business owner who learned why planning before he thought he was ready was so important. A Stroke of Luck Jerry Glasner's employees fidgeted uncomfortably. His words about the company's award-winning performance, which he had been delivering with his trademark booming confidence, began to slip from his mouth like an undercooked egg. Jerry saw the befuddled looks and looked out, confused. The last thing he remembered was his wife cradling his head and his daughter pleading for a doctor as he lay on the floor of the banquet hall that his company had rented for such a joyous announcement of his company's success. He awoke in the hospital. He had suffered a stroke. His prognosis was good, but his doctors said he would require speech therapy. Jerry's health scare made him realize how many people both relied on and cared about him. Though he would have never wished for such a terrifying experience to learn a lesson again, he did consider himself lucky. He was not only alive but also motivated to protect the family and employees he'd supported for the last 30 years. With help from his Advisor Team, he created a set of contingency plans.

WestPac® Wealth Partners ranked #1 Best Workplace for Parents™ in mid-size companies by Fortune! This achievement is a testament to the incredible efforts our organization has put into creating a supportive and family-friendly environment. As a proud parent and employee of WestPac, I couldn't be happier to be a part of this journey toward fostering a healthy Life-Work Integration® for all. The road to becoming one of the best workplaces for parents was undoubtedly a collective effort. From leadership to each team member, we have all played a crucial role in creating an inclusive and accommodating atmosphere. Whether it's flexible work hours, remote work options, or support for alternative scheduling, our organization understands that the traditional 9-to-5 model sometimes aligns differently with the demands of parenthood. This flexibility has not only eased the challenges of juggling work and family responsibilities but has also allowed us to thrive in our professional roles.

Celebrating a Win for Life-Work Integration®: Our Journey to Fortune #1 Best Workplaces for Parents
This past weekend marked a monumental moment for me—a journey that intertwined personal dedication, professional support, and a heartfelt cause. As I laced up my running shoes and participated in the St. Jude's Memphis Marathon, I couldn't help but reflect on the incredible path that led me there and the unwavering support from WestPac Wealth Partners, a company that champions life-work integration®. The marathon wasn't just about running 26.2 miles—it was a tribute to the memory of a brave soul, Hudson Baker. At the tender age of 4, Hudson battled Sonic Hedgehog Medulloblastoma with a courage that inspired everyone around him. Sadly, in early November, Hudson passed away, leaving behind a legacy of joy, love, and remarkable strength. Hudson wasn't just a name; he was the nephew of a dear friend and colleague, Bridget Orr. I had the privilege of meeting Hudson earlier this year, and his spirit had an indelible impact on me. His relentless optimism, despite the challenges he faced, continues to resonate deeply within me. As I took on this marathon with St. Jude's, I didn't just run for the finish line—I also fundraised for Strong Like Hudson, an initiative dedicated to continuing Hudson's legacy and supporting families battling similar adversities. The road to this marathon was both physically and emotionally demanding. Yet, amid the training regimen, WestPac Wealth Partners stood by me, embodying its belief in life-work integration.

The world we live in, with social media and its many platforms and facets, has introduced or instead reinforced, the era of the Selfie. Ironically, when most people post to social media to "share" with the rest of the world, the real goal of the post is not so much to share, serve, or help others but to get likes, comments, and reshares to make us feel and look better. So, in short, most Selfies, when posted to social media, are more selfish than they are serving. I'd love to be in a position to say that this perspective is other people's problem, but as much as I'd like to say it, we all know that it's not true for any of us. I, too, succumbed to this mindset as a teenager and still occasionally revert to it. In a world where pronouns have had such publicity, the one that appears to get the most use and promotion is "me." Me. Me. ME! This self-centered thinking comes from the natural man within, the primitive brain. However, that doesn't mean we have to continue with this mindset.Through life's experiences, many have learned that although working alone may yield quick results, working with others can be more rewarding, and true collaboration can generate greater, long term and lasting progress. Like the African Proverb says, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Reflecting on my life, I've realized that when I shifted my focus from "me" to "we," more was achieved, and we collectively advanced further in life.
