March 2025 | The Engineer Behind Wisk’s Subscale Aircraft: Simon Li At Wisk, our mission is to build, certify, and fly the first electric, autonomous eVTOL. But before our full-scale Generation 6 aircraft takes to the skies, critical testing is done on our subscale aircrafts, which Simon Ang Li, Senior Controls Engineer at Wisk refers to as “flying testbeds.” Simon leads our subscale aircraft program in Hollister, CA. While these aircraft are smaller than our full-scale Gen 6, they serve a significant purpose. As Simon describes, they allow his team to “fly the software in real-world environments and experience real uncertainties and noise.” This kind of testing provides insights that simulations simply can’t match, ensuring our control laws are validated in a range of real conditions before flying on Gen 6.

June 2025 | Wisk Aero has acquired Verocel Inc., a software verification and validation (V&V) company. Verocel’s unique expertise in supporting the certification of high-integrity aerospace software and the qualification of V&V tools will play a key role in Wisk’s ongoing effort to certify its Generation 6 autonomous, electric air taxi. For the past 25 years, the Verocel team has been leading the V&V of high-integrity software products within the aerospace industry. The team has deep expertise in DO-178C and are members of industry standards committees for high-integrity software including RTCA/Special Committee, EUROCAE Working Group, and the FAA’s Overarching Properties Working Group. Additionally, the qualified Verocel toolset – VeroTrace – provides a baseline for software certification requirements definition, tracking, and FAA submittals. This specialty expertise creates an enduring capability at Wisk that supports both the certification of the Generation 6 aircraft as well as future software developments at The Boeing Company.

June 2024 | Wisk Aero and Houston Airports established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to bring autonomous air taxis to Greater Houston. The agreement supports the strategic planning efforts needed to bring a new form of air transportation to the city, connecting airports, business centers, and tourist destinations. As part of this collaboration, Wisk will partner with Houston Airports to identify and assess potential locations for the development of vertiport infrastructure at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), and Ellington Airport (EFD).

February 2024 | Wisk and the City of Sugar Land, Texas, partnered to bring autonomous Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) to the Greater Houston region. Wisk and Sugar Land will identify and assess a location at the Sugar Land Regional Airport for the development of vertiport infrastructure that would allow for Wisk’s autonomous air taxi operations. This initial partnership will lay the foundation and act as a gateway for the establishment of a larger network across the Greater Houston region.

May 2023 | Wisk and Japan Airlines (JAL) are partnering to bring Wisk’s self-flying, all-electric air taxi services to Japan. Additionally, Wisk and JAL Engineering (JALEC) will work closely together to develop plans for the maintenance and operation of Wisk’s autonomous air taxis. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed that establishes a framework for collaboration between Wisk, JAL, and the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB). This will include careful consideration of regulatory requirements, safety measures, and how the community can benefit from advanced air mobility through the use of Wisk’s Gen 6 aircraft.

February 2023 | Wisk Aero, a leading Advanced Air Mobility company, and the South East Queensland Council of Mayors (COMSEQ), a local government advocacy organisation in Australia, have published a paper outlining the benefits Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) will bring to South East Queensland (SEQ). The two organisations entered into a strategic partnership, which started with a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2022, and they continue to collaborate on outreach and events to showcase the benefits associated with AAM.
