Long-term disability is paid after 90 days of being continuously disabled and unable to work and is paid at 60% of your salary up to $10,000 per month. This is a company-paid benefit.
STD is an income replacement plan available to employees who become sick or disabled for a short period of time (up to 90 days). Short-term disability benefits are paid at 60% of your weekly pay up to $1,000 per week. Employees may also use a combination of paid-time off and short-term disability to “top-up” to approximately 100% of their regular pay. Short-term disability is an optional benefit paid for by the employee.
