The interview process started well with a pleasant HR screen, but the following interview was one of the more disheartening experiences I've had.
The interviewer seemed totally disengaged. During the behavioral portion, he was visibly doing something else on his computer, and at one point actually got up and walked away from the screen mid-conversation without any explanation.
Despite being described as a conversation about role fit, there was a mismatch with what the interview actually entailed. I was asked a vague, high-level system design question, and when I tried to clarify requirements, he seemed annoyed and wouldn't provide any. He also asked detailed trivia-style questions about a language I had explicitly mentioned earlier I could write but wasn't deeply experienced in.
When I had a few minutes to ask questions at the end, he remained disinterested and was actively condescending in his responses.
I understand interviewers are busy, but basic respect for a candidate's time isn't a big ask. Wanted to flag this for others considering the process.
