I experienced the same situation as the previous posting described except in addition to that the company used my application information to try and generate sales leads. While I was waiting on my interviewer (who was 45 minutes late) someone else in the company was repeatedly calling my cell phone trying to sell me their products. The only way that representative knew the information he did was off of my job application/references/resume. Is that even legal? Somehow I doubt it.
