I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Airwallex in Sep 2023
Interview
Had a good process and my TA Megan made sure to check-in constantly, give a good amount of space when I needed it, and ensured I had plenty of chances to interact with other members of the design team when requested. In hindsight it would have been good to also get some calls in with the working team prior to accepting the offer, but ample opportunities to meet them after in the company.
Standard call with internal recruiter, she was really nice. Next interview with a Design Manager based out of Singapore, really loved the chat and felt that people at Airwallex are very smart and work hard (not a bad thing).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked about comfortability in sharing often and early regarding product design initiatives and my ability to manage up in a complex financial environment.
TA asked a personal question unrelated to the role. When asked about role’s product scope and detail, described it in a condescending way. Conversations also felt rushed as if the person just wanted to get out of the room. Instead of rushing/ cutting the person off, could’ve just said “for the interest if time” or something.
Quite an unfortunate encounter and lack of professionalism for such a relatively well-known company with a strong and promising product.
Apparently 2 other people who had interviewed for the team also had unfortunate encounters with the same person and they were also left feeling uncomfortable or just plain confused. I thought this was a joke.
I applied online. I interviewed at Airwallex (Singapore)
Interview
During the interview with talent acquisition (Singapore), I encountered rude and condescending interviewer. Noticeable lack of professionalism and a clear lack of respect for candidates. TA team really bad this company.
