I was approached through my corporate email for this position. It was a well structured email from the Vice President of Marketing looking for a candidate to fill this position. It looked like an automated email which was fine. So I replied telling I was interested and the VP put me in touch with one of the members of the PeopleOps team. Interview was scheduled and that's where my bad experience began.
One of the first questions the interviewer asked was "What made you apply for this position?". I answered that I was the one approached. He didn't seem happy with my answer and after asking if I had 5 or more years of experience in Growth , which I said I hadn't but had over 10 years of experience in data analysis in general, he completely stopped trying to make this interview even slightly interesting.
I've had my fair share of interviews, both interviewer and interviewee. If you are interviewing someone that was approached by your company, don't ask "What made you apply?" it shows how unprepared you are for this. And if the person does not fill the prerequisites, don't treat him/her as garbage. Give the feedback that you need someone with said prerequisites and wish them luck. It got pretty obvious that he wasn't going to consider me for the position and it would have saved us both time if he had just finished it.
And one more thing, if you're going to use some automated message for giving negative feedback on the interview, be mindful of the date/time the interviewee is going to receive it as well as the message. I highly doubt the interviewer was typing an email at Sunday 6:43pm.
Please review your interview process, Apollo.io. You're supposed to be "Loved by sales and marketing professionals" as your website advertises. And that had no marketing input at all, just made your company look bad from my point of view.
