The process starts with a recruiter call that provided a general overview of the position and the company's financial standing.
The next phase is a 30 minute zoom with the hiring manager.
The hiring manager's perception of the role seems disconnected from the job description and the recruiter's overview.
Immediate 25 minutes plus of asking back to back questions without pause or follow up, let alone awareness of the complexity of the question asked.
The hiring manager did not introduce himself, the role, the team or how the position operates within the company.
I was provided with less than 5 minutes to ask questions and the few I did ask he was unable to answer them clearly. It seemed as if he was very inexperienced and had not only unrealistic expectations of the role but did not know what responsibilities or objectives he would want the individual to accomplish.
The length of time I was provided to ask questions was disproportionate to the total interview length. The hiring manager was not interested in making sure I had the information I would need in my employment search.
At the end when the hiring manager was unable to clearly answer my questions, he made sure to state he recently came from "insert large tech company here" performing this role. I am not sure why he would mention this considering the company has lost over 50% valuation while he worked there. To me this signals a leader who had failed at his role and left.
Overall this left me a very negative impression of leadership, a general misunderstanding of best hiring practices and just a very poor attitude in general.
