      Product Designer Interview

      May 9, 2018

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AppZen

      Interview

I was supposed to interview onsite for a Product Designer role. I had 5 rounds lined up for the day. In the first interview, the interviewer hadn't even looked at my profile and asked me to wow them with visual skills (kind of awkward because I am more on the process/research side, which he/she would haven known had they bothered to look through my skillset). I was told that they needed a visual designer with skills to build stylesheets (again not sure why they were interviewing me and advertised a Product Design role). After that two interviews went ok. It was a little unprofessional when I was told that there was an "emergency" and they would not do my final two interviews. I feel like the company needs to figure out what they want and try to be honest with the interview candidates.

      Question 1

Nothing process related, show final and finished visual designs.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We have since taken a look at our interview process. In an effort to make every candidate's experience positive, regardless of fit, we have put together an interview training for our team. Additionally, I apologize for having to end the interview unexpectedly. Being a small team working with enterprise customers, sometimes we need 'all hands on deck' I apologize that this unfortunately interfered with your time on-site with us!

      Interview
