I applied for a graphic design position there already having negative reviews of the company from a friend and former employee. However, I decided that every person can have a different perspective and that I should allow that judgement to hinder my opportunity. I was contacted by the HR point person and had a rather enjoyable conversation. I was told I would be interviewing with the art director(s) and to expect a meeting to be set up via Zoom, which it was. Upon meeting the ADs the interview went well enough and they told me I'd be asked to do a project. Recently I (and many other colleagues in the industry) have noticed a trend amongst numerous companies. ABG followed suit. At first I was even hesitant to even do the project as I've taken the stance that you can evaluate my skillset from my portfolio and my professionalism from interviews. However, I said I'd entertain the project and honestly it was simple enough that I agreed. I completed the project within the guidelines and timeframe and sent it off accordingly. Having worked in the industry for 10+ years I know my work and presentation was in no way amateurish but of course always under some form of criticism (just how the business is.) The trend here that I formerly spoke about is that I was then absolutely "ghosted" from any form of communication. After over a week went by I reached out again to ask if there had been any updates or info but received nothing in reply or return. This speaks volumes of the level of professionalism that the company presents. Perhaps they were just fishing for free ideas? Perhaps my work wasn't what they were looking for? Fair enough. But no respect in communication is an insult and something that is ravaging the industry as a whole currently.
