The PI Behavioral Assessment that we administer prior to beginning the interview process was created by university professors, I/O psychologists and other subject matter experts in psychometrics. It allows us to objectively evaluate applicant's aptitude for our open positions. There are instances, and it sounds like your description of your experience illustrates one such instance, in which a candidate may apply for one position but their PI results suggest that they are more strongly suited for another opening within our organization. In some of those instances, we offer the applicant the chance to interview for the position that is likely the better fit. We understand that it may seem strange to apply for one position and ultimately interview for another, but we do this in order to ensure we achieve two interrelated goals. The first is that we hire the best person for the job and the second is that our employees are happy and well-suited for the work they do.
