      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Backbase (Amsterdam) in Mar 2017

      Interview

Interview at Backbase was a great experience and having accepted the offer, I look forward to a wonderful career with the team (the joining is in a few days). The steps are given below: 1) Screening round with HR - The discussion was with HR regarding the experience, role, understanding the skills required, motivation behind the job switch etc. Overall, the HR was very friendly and I liked the interaction alot. 2) Screening round with Director- As per discussion with HR, I was asked for another discussion round with the director of module team that I will be joining (if all goes well). The discussion again involved similar questions particularly focused on previous experience on training specially and motivation in job switch. It was a very pleasant experience as the discussion was very friendly and open. 3) Coding Exercise on Angular 2 - After the above discussions, I was given Angular 2 exercise which was to be developed using best coding practices possible. Existing boilerplate available over Internet were prohibited. It was an interesting exercise as the opportunity involved developing the small task using own boilerplate, with whatever UI that we desire and with best coding standards. 4) Discussion with Team Lead - Once the above round was cleared, I was then asked for the interview with Team Lead. The interview was focused on explaining the code submitted in #3. The interviewer was very friendly and seemed to be more of an open discussion rather than a hardly pointed interview. 5) Presentation - As the role involved giving presentations, I was asked to give a presentation on a topic of my choosing. It was a 15 minute presentation in which 2 team directors had joined. I was later given the feedback of what were the good points and the bad on which I should work upon. After this, I received an email from HR that I have completed most of the rounds and that it would be great to meet in person in Amsterdam. The company arranges all the stuff - visa, tickets, hotel etc. There were a few meetings and a company walkthrough. I was later very happy to receive my Backbase offer. The overall experience was excellent and I am really looking forward to a wonderful career with the team.
