I applied and was contacted by HR for the initial screening interview. Then I talked to the hiring manager the next day. This was before the holidays, so I didn't have the rest of the interviews until after the new year. I met with the UX Director and product VP in one interview and other senior product managers that I would be working with in the next interview. They were "getting to know you" type interviews—so no case studies, take home assignments or presentations, and there were few behavioral questions. I genuinely enjoyed everyone I interviewed with and was excited to work with them. However, after my last round of interviews, there was a breakdown in communication. I reached out to HR to find out what the next steps were and heard nothing back. Someone from HR who wasn't my original recruiter called and gave me a verbal offer, but since I had a competing offer, I asked if they would be willing to make their offer more competitive. He said that my HR contact was out of the office, so they would have to way until she was back in the following week. He didn't seem to know what day for sure she would be back, so I waited until Tuesday of the following week and accepted the other offer. It really is too bad because I really saw myself making a great impact at this role, and it was my first choice. I emailed the HR team on the following day to let them know that I had accepted the other offer. Then on the following Friday, I received an email from them asking if I was still interested in the position. I explained AGAIN that I had accepted the other offer because I never heard from them after their initial verbal offer.
