      Customer Assistant Interview

      Jul 7, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Manchester, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Boots (Manchester, England) in Jun 2016

      Interview

I applied online, and had to input some basic details (name, address etc). About a day after I was invited to take part in the online scenario questions. I can't really remember my answers, but I think they are all about working as a team and putting the customer first is very important to them! About a week later I was invited to go into the store for an interview. The interview itself was good, the staff were all really friendly and put me at ease. I went into the managers office and she clarified what hours the position was for and made sure this was OK with me before we continued. After that, she asked me a few questions with 'describe a time'. They were all pretty similar and to be honest I don't think I particularly answered them very well, but I think they are just looking for someone who is smiley, confident and happy to show that they have been involved in situations where they have looked after customers etc. The questions she asked are below in the 'interview questions' bit. After this, we went out onto the shop floor where the manager took me to the dental care isle and asked how I would approach a customer that looked like they needed help, I answered that you need to be friendly and open and listen to the customers needs. There were a few other questions like this, about 'what would you do if a customer wanted to treat themselves' and she wanted me to tell her about the Advantage Card and the benefits of it. Next, we went to my 'chosen product' that they told me to research in the interview, this bit wasn't as scary as it sounds and I basically just told her all about the product, key ingredients and who it would be good for. They are just looking to see if you can talk about products and to see if you made the effort to research. For the last task I had to go around the store asking people if they would like to sign up to an advantage card. For this sort of task, they don't care whether you sign people up or not they just want to make sure that you can confidently approach people so don't hesitate just take the plunge and ask them. After this, we went back to the office and had a quick chat about how it went, and I was offered the job on my way home (by phone call).

      Interview

Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
