I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Boots (King's Lynn, England) in Aug 2016
Interview
I went into the shop, had a quick look around to re-familiarise myself with the layout, and then told one of the staff members in the perfume section that I was there for a job interview. I had to sign in, and then she took me upstairs to the staff area where I was handed over to the woman who would be interviewing me. She was nice enough, but before we started the interview, she told me about the job and mentioned the shift hours (which hadn't been advertised in the job description.) When I told her I'd be coming to work by train, she seemed taken aback, cut me off, and said there were no trains running at that time in the morning and so I wouldn't be able to do the job and that there was no point in continuing the interview. I was shown out after 2 minutes. Would have been nice if they'd phoned me to ask if I could do the hours, instead of waiting until the interview which meant I wasted an entire day preparing as well as a train fare. Really disappointing.
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.

Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
