I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Boots (Doncaster, England) in Sep 2016
Interview
was shown to the staff room every member of staff that came in said hello and smiled which was nice. Waited around 15 minutes to be interviewed which I didn't mind but was given an apology for the wait. The woman was really friendly so felt at ease. Was asked a few questions about my availability I said any time to which she said was perfect as they are looking for flexible people.
Then was told we would be going on to the shop floor. Was asked a few questions like how would you want a customer to feel when talking/advising them? What would you say to a customer that asked you for the toothpaste offers? A customer asks you to help them purchase a treat for their friend What would you say?
I then had to approach 4 customers as the manager followed and observed, she had told me that if I didn't know where a product was or couldn't answer then to just ask her. I was nervous about this part but actually was fine. I approached them with a smile and asked hi? Are you ok there? And are you looking for anything inparticular today? 2 of them needed help 2 said no so I replied by saying ok
Well if you need any help come and find me which I was later told was important to add.
I then had to go and find my product I had researched which was the real techniques miracle complexion sponge I have used these for years and was confident I could sell it to her and I memorised the main selling points.
We then went to the baby food isle and she asked...if you had 15 minutes to re arrange this isle what would you do? she said I had 10 minutes to think but I already knew this question was coming so had planned what I would say. I said Keep it clean and tidy bring products forward and straighten them also because of the perishable items make sure everything is stock controlled correctly.
We then went back to the office where she explained more about the role pay and training.
I got a phone call 2 days later with a job offer and 4 days later my induction.
Overall was a positive experience I did have a interview at a different branch 2 weeks prior but I was quite nervous and not as well prepared so expected not to be successful.
