      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Boots (Bradford, Yorkshire and the Humber, England) in Nov 2016

      Interview

I applied for the position online. The process was quick and simple as I had already applied previously therefore the online assessment which I passed was already carried over with my application. I received a smailin order to come in and interview soon after. I booked my slot online to suit the time for me as I currently attend sixth form. The interview had to be rescheduled to a later date as the interviewer was unable to commit to the date I had requested. This was done through a phone call. As I arrived to the store it was the security guard who noticed me and I told him to that I was here for an interview and he signed me in before taking me upstairs to a makeshift waiting area which was the staff kitchen area. A short while later my interviewer came and took me to her room. Basic details were gone through such as availability and the interview began. The initial questions she asked me I felt were hard as she had mentioned due to lack of experience of work as I was still as student meant I couldn't exactly answer the questions clearly. She picked up on a question saying that the answer I responded with was just examples howevere weren't answering the actual question it self. After this part was done she left the room in order to make a photocopy of my passport and whilst she was gone I felt as though I did really badly and I would have to make up for it in the next part. When she returned she took me the shop floor to carry out basic tasks. I made sure to impress at this stage. Whilst taking me through the shop floor she was asking basic wiestions such as how would you approach a customer etc which where quite easy to answer. She asked if I had picked a product which I did and she asked me to talk a little about the product and how I would sell it to her. She found a customer further down an aisle and she asked me what sort of impression she was giving off to which I answered quite well. She also asked I would like to go ask her if she needed any help but the lady was slowly walking away before I approached her and said she wasn't interested in anything in particular which the interviewer said was fine. She took me to a shelf which was noticeably messy and said to take a good look at the shelf and improve it and she would come back later. During the time she was away I straightened all the products ensuring that the product label faced the customers and that everything was equal on both sides and that products where in the correct area. When she returned she asked me to go through the improvements I made and how they would benefit the customer to which I explained. She also asked me if I knew what the advantage card by Boots was which I answered quite well and in detail much to her delight so I would recommend learning about Boots loyalty scheme. She also asked what I would improve overall about the store to which I answered that I see lots of people on the tills but not enough people in other areas and I would improve this by having more staff go around. Throughout the whole process it was pretty informal and she made notes the whole way through. She then took me back to her office and explained that two positions were available and that she had more interviews to do and would get back to me soon which she did within two days. She also mentioned that as I was in school that if I were to receive the job that I would get a weekend position with a possibility of extra hours. She asked if I had any questions to which I responded if I could had feedback and she gave quite good feedback. Two days laters I reiceved a call informing me that I had received a position for 13 hours a week over the weekend which was due to start in 4 weeks with the contract length for 4 weeks.
