I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Boots (Swansea, Wales) in Nov 2016
Interview
The interview process was very informal, laid back and wasn't that nerve-racking. First of all I was told to familiarise myself with the store whilst the manager was getting my bits ready. After this we went into a room out back where she told me that it is a very informal interview and there's nothing to be worried about. She explained the hours and asked me when I will be avaliable. She asked me a couple of questions (I will state below) and then we went to the shop floor. Here we went to the hair section and she asked me a couple of questions. These were: "A customer is looking confused, picking up different products and putting them down again. What would you say to them?" And secondly "A customer is getting a gift for an elderly woman who has just came out of hospital, what would you ask the customer?" Then she gave me some hand cream which I had to ask customers if they'd like to try, she told me not to worry as most customers will say no but it was just to see how you approach customers. Then we went back into the room our back where she asked me if I had any questions. I asked her when I would hear back and she said either tonight or tomorrow. So I'm hoping to hear back :)
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Tell me a situation where you had to look at 2 sides of a the situation and how did you deal with it?
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
