      Customer Assistant Interview

      Feb 21, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Boots in Feb 2017

      Interview

I used Glassdoor to prepare for the interview so I'm now giving back to the community! :-) I have previously worked at Boots during the Christmas period so I knew what to expect during the interview as this was my second. I applied online and the next day got an email saying congratulations I was through to the next stage and to pick a date for an interview, so I did that. I was very nervous even though I knew what to expect. I arrived 10 minutes early and searched for my product which I was told to think about so that I knew where it was in the store to show the interviewer. A lady walked up to me and asked if I had an interview I said yes, as I approached her I was greeted by the assistant manager who shook my hand and asked how I was. He lead me into a small room where he began the interview process, he asked me my availability and got a couple of my details. He asked me several "tell me a time when.." questions which I was prepared for (thanks to Glassdoor!) however he made them much more difficult than my previous interview. He was looking for key points such as "how did you feel? How did the customer feel?" etc whereas before the lady who interviewed me just asked the questions and wrote my answers. I think this was because this is a much bigger store than the previous one and they have higher expectations. I will put the questions below. After this it was time to go into the shop floor where he got an advantage card form and asked me to tell him all about it. I will also put this below. He also made me roleplay with him as if he was the customer arriving at the till with their items. I answered with "Hello, did you get everything you came in for today?" He was really impressed with this as he said it's good to ask, if they hadn't found anything they could say "oh actually no i needed...." he also made me approach a few customers and ask them if they needed anything and to promote certain items in the store. Then we went to an office and photocopied my items.

      Interview

Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
