I applied online. I interviewed at Boots (Cork) in Jul 2017
Interview
Applied online and within two days I received an email to organise an interview. On the day of the interview after I introduced myself I was brought to an office where an interview typical of this sort of job took place. I was asked just general questions about myself and my availability as well as my previous employment. The interviewer then asked three situational customer based questions like name a time when you remained calm under pressure. The interviewer was lovely and made me feel at ease. I was then brought to the shop floor where I had to look at a shelf and say what I would do to make it look better like pulling forward and filling gaps etc and then I had to go up to multiple customers and see if they needed any help. However none of the customers wanted help so I did the same but with members of staff pretending to be customers instead. I had to sell a product of my choice to one of them and help them find different things they wanted. However I was unfortunate enough that one of them wanted help finding products in the La Roche Posay section and it was very difficlut finding products when all the descriptions were written in French! I also was the only person who applied for this job who was interviewed by this person as the manager of the store I applied to was out for the day and my interview took place in a much larger branch of Boots that I was unfamiliar with so I knew I didn't show enough confidence on the shopfloor to get the job but once you show that you should be fine!
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.

Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
