      Customer Assistant Interview

      Sep 19, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Stratford, London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Boots (Stratford, London, England) in Sep 2017

      Interview

I used Glassdoor to prepare for the interview which was very helpful! I was asked very similar questions worded differently. Before this interview I had to do an online assessment which took about 15 mins about how I would respond to different situations and options were offered of which I then had to choose from. Very similar to what some other stores like primark do. I received an email about the interview weeks after the assessment. My actual interview was really weird. I had to wait in their lunch room for 15 mins when I first arrived even though I was not early but on time for the interview. When they were finally ready, I taken to a small room where the assistant manager then interviewed me. The actual interview kept getting interrupted because people had work to ask or do with the Assitant Manager which couldn't wait and I would be sent back to the lunch room to wait which was kind of amusing and annoying as once as I would get a chance to hear the question, be removed from the room and have a think and then they would come collect me again! Overall had to wait an hour. Staff were really friendly in the lunch room and seemed nice to work with. I was asked why boots and why specifically this role? Scenario Qs : describe a time where you had to build a relationship with someone you don't know describe a time where you had to work with a group of people to achieve a goal describe a time where you had to communicate with a difficult or stressed out person For the scenario questions after I answered they would ask very specific questions like what were the names of the other people in the scenario and other follow up questions. Probably just to make sure it was a real scenario. I was then taken out to the sales floor which would have been way too confusing and off putting if I hadn't read that happens on Glassdoor. Basically told to tidy up an aisle - I was told to fix what I thought needed fixing in a certain section. Then told to help customers that I thought needed help - had to do quite a few. Then told to choose a product and try and sell it to the Assistant Manager - I was also told to prepare for this in the interview. I was going to choose make-up which has been chosen by others on Glassdoor but at this point I was very tired and wanted to go home so picked the closest thing to me after pretending to have a look around. Chose medicine and tried to sell it to the Assistant Manager. And then the interview finished and I was told they would respond in 2-3 weeks time. Im writing this the next day so dont know the result of the interview yet. to wait for an hour Staff seemed really nice and helpful.

      Interview

Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
