I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Boots (Glasgow, Scotland) in Oct 2017
Interview
I completed an application and online assessment, with situational judgment questions, before being contacted to schedule an interview at the store.
The interview involves a number of different elements. Firstly, a competency based interview, which consisted of common questions on customer service and team work. The other tasks were on the shop floor, including how you would improve some shelves and approaching customers to sell No.7 products. The interview seemed very keen to hire me and commended me on my customer service skills on the shop floor. However, I was not given an offer of a role, with no explanation as to why. On the portal, my application status appeared as 'notification by email', despite not receiving an email. Perhaps a technical glitch but the rest of the process was seamless, so it was a shame the final decision wasn't so clear.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked to sell a product of my choice to the manager.
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
