I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Boots (Cork)
Interview
After answering the online questionnaire, I received an email offering me a few different possibilities for an interview. The interview process was with a very friendly manager, the usual questions: Why Boots, what do you know about the company, talk to us about details and situations in relation to your past jobs.. Then you are brought to the shop floor when you have to introduce one product you know and like to the person interviewing, then another product the interview chooses for you (hand cream usually). You are given a few minutes to get a sense of the product (brand, type, use) and then you have to approach customers to talk about the product. It is not to sell the product, but to show that you are comfortable talking to strangers. Keep that in mind, customers come first in all processes and details at Boots, it's about them always. I ended up guiding customers to other products, as they used the opportunity to ask me questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The usual, why Boots, past experiences, etc..
There is this myth going around that you are supposed to treat the "Family planning section" differently than others, it's not true at all... You obviously don't bother people that clearly look like they want to be left alone, but you advise equally regardless of section of the shop.
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.

Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
