I applied online. I interviewed at Boots (Bracknell, England) in Sep 2018
Interview
A seriously flawed hiring process. The online assessments were not representative of me or my skills. The Assistant Manager who interviewed me on the day was very young and unprofessional. He barely made eye contact and just listed through questions he read off a sheet, with no attempt to make me feel at ease or make me feel he was interested in what I was saying. He didn't ask if I had any questions at the end, but I felt so fed up with his unprofessionalism I didn't even bother trying to ask.
Boots need to have a serious look at this process. Asking 4 very similar questions in a row in a monotonous voice has left me feeling uninspired and unmotivated to work for the company. I won't accept an offer if it is made, and I shan't be applying to Boots again.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you overcame a difficult situation
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
