I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Boots (Macclesfield, England) in Aug 2018
Interview
Followed online application, very lengthy and time consuming. Interview itself was was with store manager. Kept me waiting for 20 mins while she appeared to buy her lunch. Took over 2 hours to ask about 6 or 7 competency questions. Then waited 2 months for an answer which was 'you don't have the right skills' - this was actually a more junior position than I have held in over 12 yrs and 'please wait 6 months before applying again' : subtext, go away and don't come back. I emailed the recruitment team 3 times to follow up for an answer or feedback..... like I said, took 2 months to decide that my skills and experience were insufficient. Either they are so poorly organized that they can't manage their own email backlog, they actually shortlisted me and then just held the details on the off chance that their 1st choice dropped out or they have so little respect for their applicants that they just couldn't be bothered to process it any further (or any combination of the 3). Says a lot about the company to me - I would encourage others to avoid.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Asked to talk through work history even though interviewer was holding my c.v. with a chronological history on it - she clearly hadn't taken any time to read it first.
After her questions I asked the SM to talk around numbers so I could get a flavor of the business - sales, loss, labor, growth etc. She couldn't even recall one number and appeared to have no knowledge or care about the company goals or how she is going to 'lead' the business forward. Certainly wasn't interested in anything I had to say regarding change management.
The process was very clear, they ask simple interview questions. All you need is to be prepared. To be an assistant manager is tough but you must let them know that you are willing to go through the difficulties and that you are eager.

Interview
Horrible, got the job after an interview with the manager and was given a start date on the 2nd of October (2 months after my interview). A few days before, I received a call saying the job was no longer available but she'd still like to have me on the team as a pharmacist. She's now ignoring my texts and emails.
Just one interview with store manager. Interview was very difficult especially if you have no previous experience in management. Lots of questions on previous situations that you have been in and it wants you to go into detail on these
