I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Boots (Weston-super-Mare, England) in Sep 2013
Interview
Initially looked great. Interview sounded like I would have plenty of opportunities and development/training. Then they started to mess up. I was told my starting date. Then when I got there, they told me they weren't ready for me, and said I had to have signed my contract through the post.
I wasn't allowed to step on the shop floor without completing around 8 hours of training in front of a computer. It only took 8 hours because the store manager demanded that I complete the fire training about 7 times, and some of the other training several times as the system was not working properly and she wanted "to be sure".
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Had to write a written response to how I would respond to certain detailed situations, such as low morale in branch. Made the job sound interesting and challenging. The job however was not in the slightest bit related to anything that happened in the interview process.
The process was very clear, they ask simple interview questions. All you need is to be prepared. To be an assistant manager is tough but you must let them know that you are willing to go through the difficulties and that you are eager.

Interview
Horrible, got the job after an interview with the manager and was given a start date on the 2nd of October (2 months after my interview). A few days before, I received a call saying the job was no longer available but she'd still like to have me on the team as a pharmacist. She's now ignoring my texts and emails.
Just one interview with store manager. Interview was very difficult especially if you have no previous experience in management. Lots of questions on previous situations that you have been in and it wants you to go into detail on these
