I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Boots in Jun 2013
Interview
I applied online and the process took a day. After filling out an application form, I succeeded and was asked to fill in a questionnaire online based on a personality test which I passed, always choose answers about positivity and helping others. Once I passed the questionnaire I was asked to choose a time slot for my interview, I chose the earliest possible so they had no one else in mind when I went for my interview which is a good way I think. The interview was fairly intense as I think due to me being 16 at the time, the interviewer wanted to make sure I would do a good job. She asked me about how I would handle customer queries and complaints so answer by saying apologize, listen carefully etc.. She then took me onto the shop floor to go up to customers and ask for help now here is a good tip, I got my mum to come in and pretend to be a customer and I pretended I didn't know who she was and we had a chat whilst I 'helped' her which I think went down really well with the employer! Definitely get someone to do this for you if you can! Three hours after the interview she called me and asked me to start straight away! By the way make sure you have a lot of information about a particular product sold in store as she will ask you to pick a product and demonstrate how you would sell it!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How different would you treat an elderly lady as a customer to a younger lady?
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
