I applied online for the job and was emailed a couple of days later asking me to fill out an online assessment that would take about 35 mins to an hour. I filled out this assessment which basically asked some questions to get to know my personality and also involved a multiple choice section in response to typical scenarios that may happen in store, asking you to pick your least likely action and your most likely action that you would take in response to those scenarios. Then a week or so later I was emailed back telling me that my application was successful and they asked me to pick a time to arrange an interview in the shop. I chose the date and time and was emailed back confirming this time (I also got an email the day before the interview reminding me about the date and time). Unfortunately on the day of the interview I turned up at the wrong Boots as there was about 4 Boots in the town when I assumed that there was only one! The staff in the Boots that I had accidentally turned up at though were so lovely and helpful and phoned the Boots I was supposed to be at to explain what had happened and say I was on my way to them. So I quickly made my way to the other Boots shop and the manager was really understanding and reassuring, telling me not to worry about my mistake. The interview was very relaxed and she made me feel at ease, telling me what was going to happen in the interview and that it wouldn't be hard. Basically I answered some questions about more scenarios, I answered some personal questions and was asked things like "Tell me about a time when you made a mistake, what did you learn from this? / Tell me about a time when you helped someone and what did you do to make them feel at ease?" I was also asked, as I had been told in my email to consider a product sold in Boots that really appealed to me, to try and "sell" the product to the manager. I chose a mascara that I love and basically explained why I loved it, and she also asked me how I would sell it differently to an older customer, I said I would say the wand was easy to use in case they had trouble applying it. Then we went onto the shop floor and I was asked to assist some customers while she hung back and watched, however the shop was quite empty and everyone I approached already seemed to be happy and so after I asked a couple of customers she told me it was fine. Then she took me to an aisle and asked me what I would do to make it more presentable if I had 15 mins to spare. I said things like I would restock, make sure all of the stock was at the front and looked neat and tidy, etc. Then she asked me if I had any suggestions for the store and then the interview was over. She asked me if I had any questions and then explained to me about the hours I would be working if I got it and some other details about the job, and that I should expect to hear back in a couple of weeks. Overall I felt at ease for the whole interview and I feel it went really well, all of the staff in both of the Boots I went into were really lovely and made me feel welcome. Haven't got an answer yet so have put no to my offer, but I only did the interview today so!
