I filled out an online application which basically just asked for my personal details, my availability and references. I then filled out the online questionnaire. Throughout the questionnaire you'll find they ask many questions that are VERY similar. You need to remember to stay consistent with your answers, and not change what you would do just because you've been asked the same question many times. A lot of the questions ask you about decision-making, and the main thing you need to remember is that you are going to be a customer assistant, not a manager.
After completing the questionnaire, I received an email a few days later saying I had completed it successfully. I was then asked to book an interview date. In preparation for my interview, I looked at all the other reviews on glassdoor and wrote down all the questions that others had been asked. I then went through the questions and practiced answering them. I found the other reviews SO helpful, and that’s why I felt the need to give a little back to the glassdoor community.
This is how the interview went:
I went in to the store around 5-10mins before my interview time and told one of the customer assistants that I was here for an interview. She then took me up to the manager’s office, where I was interviewed. The manager was really lovely and she told me a little bit about herself before my interview actually started, just to help ease my nerves a little. She then asked me to confirm some of my personal details and then she went on to ask me a few questions, e.g. why do you want to work for boots? have you ever been in a situation where someone has asked you something, and in order to answer them you have had to do a little research first?, have you ever been in a difficult situation and how did you adapt to it etc.
After that I was taken down to the makeup section on the shop floor, where she asked me some more questions, such as; ‘if you had a bit of spare time how would you improve these shelves?’, ‘what is your favourite product and why?’ ‘Sell your product to me’.
Once I’d answered those questions, she told me my interview was complete and we went back up to her office. She then asked if I had any questions. I asked her a few questions and then that was it! She told me she’d get back to me in a few days.
Just got a call saying I’ve got the job! Absolutely thrilled!
