I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Boots (Durham, England)
Interview
Firstly i had to fill in some personal details online such as name, DOB and supply two references. The following day i received an email asking me to fill in the next section of the application. Here i was given a number of questions where i had to chose the best and worse actions i would take in a given scenario, this was followed by a personality test. A lot of the questions were repetitive and easy to answer.
Based on my answers i was selected to attend an interview, the time and date i was able to chose on their website to suit me. I arrived at the store and was taken to the staff room to wait for the manager as i was 10 minutes early- which always makes a good impression.
The interview itself was very relaxed, the manager was very friendly and put my nerves at ease. I was asked a few questions about previous work experience and what hours i was available to work. Next i was asked, 'what would i do to ensure i exceeded customers expectations', describe a time i made a mistake and what i learnt from it' and finally 'name a time i convinced someone to buy something'
I was then taken to the shop floor where i had a few basic scenarios to act out. The first i had to select items from the shop which i would take to an elderly lady who was in hospital for a few days. Then i had to recommend a shampoo which would be suitable for dry hair and finally recommend a hairdryer.I wasn't asked to speak about my chosen product which was mentioned in the pre-interview email, nor was i asked to interact with any customers that were in store.
The whole interview lasted half an hour and was probably the best interview i have had, very fun and not a typical sit and answer questions.
I was told to expect a phone call this evening (the day after the interview) where i would find out if i'm offered a job or not
