I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Boots in Nov 2014
Interview
I applied online and I had to fill out a questionnaire about my personality and two days later I got an email saying I was invited to an interview so I had to sign in and select the hour slot that I was available to come in. Initially when I went in I had to wait about 15 minutes whilst someone went to find the assistant manager who was supposed to interview me, then I saw a woman with the same name badge and when they asked me if I was alright I said I looking for .... and she was like 'Who? That's me and I don't know anything about it.' So she took me to the office and I was interviewed by someone other than who I was told but she was very nice. She asked some questions like my details and availability, past experience etc.
The she asked me three competency which were situation based like 'Have you been in a situation where you had to befriend someone you didn't know, how did you approach them, what did you do to make them feel confident?' I've never had a job before so I had to use examples from my work experience I'd done there in high school and other things.
After that we went onto the shop floor and she asked me about the product I was supposed to research and sell and how I would sell it to and teen and an elderly customer. I song the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer. Then she asked me some other questions like spotting a confident shopper and a non confident shopper; which departments should customers be like to left alone in; how would you clean up this display if you had a spare 15 minutes or if you had longer; and then she took me to the Soap and Glory section and asked me if a customer came in looking for a gift for an elderly lady who had just come out of hospital what would you recommend from this section, not bothered about price just want good quality.
And that was it.
I got a call 4 working days later telling me I got the job and I have to go in for training :)
