I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Boots (Manchester, England) in Sep 2015
Interview
I arrived slightly early so was taken upstairs to sit in the canteen and was talking to a man who already worked there. The interviewer then came and got me- he was very nice but hardly asked any questions! He just asked me about my hobbies, my availability and what I'm doing at school, then questioned me on what I knew about Boots which felt quite like a quiz! He then took me downstairs to the shop floor and I was given many tasks to do. Firstly, I had to walk around and ask people if they want any help, then I had to pick a No7 product and try and sell it to people. After that I had to stand by the door and offer people baskets and greet them. He also asked me to pick a random product and tell her about it- I picked a conditioner I use, and finally he took me to an aisle and asked what I'd do to make it neater. There was no mention of the product I had to learn about so not sure why I was told to do that! Overall it was a good experience but some things I was asked to do were unclear. They said i'd hear back next week...
Private interview questions - pretty standard just based on experience and given loads of time to answer. Then taken to shop floor to pick a product and how I would recommend/sell it.

Question 1
What would I do if I seen a customer who was looking around the store quite confused
Easy enough interview, just asked the typical interview questions. Thought i fit the role well but did not receive an offer or any reason for not being selected. Interview took place in a cleaning closet, which i did find strange as it was opposite the staff break room.
The interview was an hour long. Questions were
asked around compentencies. I was then brought out onto the floor to interact with customers and demonstrate product knowledge. Overall, it was pleasent, good interview.
